Welcome! I am a structured literacy educator based in the Manawatu. I offer specialist literacy tuition to children and teens who are experiencing literacy learning difficulties (including dyslexia).
My practice is based on highly individualised, needs-based instruction that follows a clear scope and sequence. Immediate feedback is provided to bed in correct knowledge. Sessions are carefully planned and packed with an assortment of activities that have been proven to support the development of literacy skills.
I follow a clearly defined scope and sequence that includes:

the 44 sounds of English

the sound-letter written representations of these 44 sounds

syllable types
-
morphology (the smallest unit of meaning in language)

syntax (the arrangement of words and phrases to form correct sentences)

semantics (meaning and comprehension)
Multisensory learning is incorporated into the sessions. Tasks are designed to reinforce the connection between the visual, auditory, and kinesthetic aspects of language.
